A dump truck is a type of truck equipped with an automatic tipping device within its cargo box. Also known as a tipper truck, it consists of a chassis, a hydraulic lifting mechanism, a cargo box, and a power take-off (PTO).
Dump truck cargo boxes come in two types: rear-tipping and side-tipping. The movement of the piston rod is controlled by a control system. The rear-tipping type is more common because it tilts the cargo box by pushing the piston rod. A few models have bi-directional tipping capabilities.
Applications: In civil engineering, dump trucks are often used in conjunction with excavators, loaders, belt conveyors, and other construction machinery to form loading and unloading lines for earthmoving, sand, gravel, and bulk materials.
Working Principle: The engine, chassis, and cab of a dump truck have a similar structure to those of a regular truck. High-pressure oil enters the lifting hydraulic cylinder through a distribution valve and oil lines. A safety guard plate is located at the front of the cargo box.
The engine drives the hydraulic pump through the gearbox and the power take-off (PTO). The hydraulic tipping mechanism of the truck cargo box consists of an oil tank, hydraulic pump, distribution valve, lifting hydraulic cylinder, control valve, and oil lines. Basic Classifications:
1. By Shape: Single-axle dump truck, dual-axle dump truck, flat-head dump truck, pointed-head dump truck, 8x4 dump truck, dual-axle semi-trailer dump truck, three-axle semi-trailer dump truck
2. By Connection Method Between Lifting Hydraulic Cylinder and Cargo Box: Direct Push Tilting Mechanism; Linked Tilting Mechanism
3. By Application Area: Agricultural Dump Truck, Mining Dump Truck, Garbage Dump Truck, Coal Transport Dump Truck, Construction Machinery Dump Truck, Sludge Dump Truck
4. By Drive Type: 4x2, 6x4, 8x4, and Semi-trailer Dump Trucks
5. Based on the Tilting Direction of the Truck Cargo Box, dump trucks can be divided into front-tilting and side-tilting types.
